Hängebrücken Tour

Naturns (554 mt) - Kastelbell (600 mt) - Trumsberg (1.300 mt) - Ratschillhöfe (1.282 mt) - Annabergböden (1.060 mt) - Hängebrücke (900 mt) - Tiss (700 mt) - Goldrain Castle (700 mt) - Goldrain (700 mt) - Latsch (639 mt) - Naturns

Leaving the centre of Naturns behind you, cycle along the Bahnhofstraße to the bridge where the Etschdammradweg, the cycle path along the river, begins. Turn right along the path to the bridge at Tschirland, cross the river and turn right onto the Konsortialweg, which is signposted as a cycle path. Ride on to Staben, where you'll have a lovely view of Juval Castle, turn left uphill there then right after about 100mt. and cycle on to Tschars. Cross the river at Tschars and head past Gasthof Winkler to your left and on along the river Etsch to Kastelbell. Cross the main road in Kastelbell and cycle up the steep road towards Trumsberg, passing a number of mountain farms, including the Köstenplonhof, Platz and the Mairhof, as far as St. Martin am Kofel. Turn off along the Forststraße, a forestry road, at the Ratschillhöfen and cycle on downhill for about 1.2 km. to just before the Ratschillhof farm. Take the sharp left turning and cycle down the steep, stoney Karrenweg to where it meets path no. 7 (signposted as Annabergböden). This trail leads to the Annabergböden, a panorama plateau with delightful views of the Vinschgau valley as far as the Meran basin. Trail no. 5 takes you on to the Hängebrücke, the hanging bridge and then head along the trail signposted as Goldrain-Tis, a panorama route to Goldrain Castle. Cycle downwards into the village of Goldrain, through the tunnel under the main road, over the railway line and then to Latsch. Ride on through the village as far as Globus, at the St. Martin cable-car car-park, then right along the cycle path to Kastelbell, with lovely views of the castle of the same name, and finally back through Tschars and Staben to Naturns.

Cyclists should always be on the look-out for motorized vehicles, especially in spring and at harvest time in autumn, as a number of the Untervinschgau/Lower Vinschgau cycle paths are, in fact, Konsortialwegen, roads used by local farmers.

Time required: 4.5 hours
Length: 41 km
